Dr. Carlton is a highly regarded bariatric and general surgeon, having earned several awards throughout his career, including being voted as a Top Doctor by D Magazine in both Dallas and Collin counties.
He is a native Texan, having earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Dr. Carlton then furthered his surgical training through a residency at the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, followed by additional studies at Bariatric Medical Institute (BMI) of Texas in San Antonio and Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center in Houston, which focused on advanced fellowship in bariatric, minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic surgeries.
Under the tutelage of world leader in robotic surgery, Dr. Erik Wilson, Dr. Carlton has since developed his practice to include cutting edge procedures such as robot, laparoscopic and magnet surgeries. He also provides proctoring to other interested surgeons wishing to learn his techniques. Dr. Carlton’s current practice encompasses a wide range of services, including Gastric Sleeve, Gastric Bypass, Duodenal Switch, SADI Bariatric Revisions, as well as general surgery, including gallbladder and hernia repairs.
